Health Care Guarantee

Applies only in Sweden!

The Health Care Guarantee is the collective term used to describe the assurances that you will be treated, you will see a doctor and you will have access to the treatment you need.

This is designed to ensure you can see a doctor and/or be given treatment within a reasonable timeframe.

The Health Care Guarantee applies to all scheduled therapy that is medically justified.

The Swedish County Council Health Care Guarantee came into effect on 1 January 2007 and guarantees a visit to a doctor and treatment within a certain timeframe, but it is not always possible for every care provider to meet the timelines. The Guarantee can therefore mean that you will be offered the chance to switch to another health care provider. The time taken for investigative examinations, for example X-rays, are not covered by the Guarantee.
